AN ALL-INCLUSIVE APPROACH TO WELLNESS
bodyMIND© is an all-inclusive approach to wellness. Our consulting and wellness services teach mindfulness practices in the ares of self-awareness, personal growth, diet and nutrition, psychology, lifestyle, health, wellness, and weight loss. Our consultations start with you telling us your goals and what you want to achieve. Once we have defined your goals you must answer this one key question, “What’s my why?℠” Truly understanding your why is the inspiration you need in order to obtain your goals whether they are life, business, or in health. Knowing your purpose is the most crucial step in obtaining long lasting results. Once you answer your what and why, it is our job to help determine how you get to your goals of health and wellness.
Life and health (essentially everything) is about balance. The more in balance you are, the healthier and happier you are. The more out of balance you are, the sicker and more dissatisfied you are. All imbalances boil down to two things: toxicities and deficiencies (too much or too little of something). And as we delve deeper, we find the root of nearly all disease (with the exception of poisonings) lies imbalances in mental thought processes and feelings that contribute to repeat behaviors and patterns that are not beneficial to our well-being. We help you to quickly identify these sabotaging unconscious patterns and utilizing simple techniques, we quickly and effectively teach you how to form new habits, behaviors, and addictions that are productive and beneficial to your growth and well-being.
Extensive testing allows us to assess your individual body (thyroid, adrenal glands, liver, food sensitivities, intestinal permeability, immune system function, etc…thousands of factors to be exact) in order to determine your chronic health conditions and/or potential weaknesses. In addition, we incorporate functional nutritional protocols capable of improving your wellness potential and mental function. Once identified, we then address these issues through custom tailored lifestyle programs specifically for your unique needs. You’ll heal faster and live a better, more satisfied life. All of our programs address the 5 key pillars to optimized health which include: fitness, nutrition, detoxification, hormonal balancing, and mind balancing. Education is provided through our bodyMIND Immersion© events and bodyMIND Lifestyle© support programs.
The characteristics of wellness for each individual are as unique as their own DNA. At bodyMIND© our carefully chosen testing produces a comprehensive Wellness Action Plan providing information regarding not only your genetics, but including recommendations specifically tailored to optimize your diet, lifestyle, physical activity and nutracuetical supplementation needs to maximize your well-being. We are of the approach that “small hinges swing big doors,” which means the smallest changes can generate huge results. For this reason, we identify the least amount of things you will have you to do or take in order to get the greatest results. We often find, this “less is more” approach most effective.
Although Dr. Stringer has facilitated the lifestyle transformation process for thousands of clients in their quest for wellness and quality of life, the challenge will and has always been sustainability. In his raw and compelling style, he has evolved from the corporate desk to entrepreneur, from institutionalized religion to transformational practicality, from following the crowd to leading it.
Dr. Nikao believes that within every person is a spark of genius, creativity, and passion. His pursuit in life is laser focused on connecting people to that spark in consciousness and manifest reality. Along the way, he has discovered that the conventional systems of change and growth are often severely lacking, and mediocre at best. So Dr. Nikao has taken the road less traveled, often at great personal sacrifice, to help pave the high road of empowered living, impactful prosperity, and authentic success.
Growing up in an Amish home set the stage for Dr. Nikao’s life-journey, experiencing early in life the difficulty and pain of “breaking out”, yet the reward and joy of life transformation. With Degrees in both religion and neuroscience, and his Doctorate in Psychology, Dr. Nikao continues to lead and study from a perspective of finding practical solutions to life’s complexity. His passion for life-transformation quickly led to public speaking early in life, which in turn brought Nikao face-to-face with the incredible need for personal life-coaching, a real and touchable process that brings practicality to information.
In 1999, Dr. Nikao developed and implemented a highly successful Life Coaching team, and yet again, built bridges between the mass audiences in his public speaking career with the personalization of life-coaching.

bodyMind Lab Testing FAQ's
Are my lab tests in yet?
All lab tests will be emailed or mailed to you when we receive the final results and after the doctor has reviewed them. Some tests can take up to 4 weeks to be final. Most conventional labs will be final within 1-2 weeks. Most specialty or functional medicine labs will be final within 2-4 weeks. You do not need to call the office- these tests will be emailed or faxed at one week before your follow up appointment. Specialty lab results are sent directly to you from the lab. If you live in New York State however, some specialty lab tests will be mailed form our office.
I just received my lab tests in the mail and they look abnormal. Should I be worried?
All tests are reviewed by your doctor before they are sent to you. If there are abnormal lab results that need immediate attention the doctor will contact you. All other abnormal results are pieces of your biochemical puzzle. Do not be alarmed if some of your test results are high or low. Your doctor will address these findings at the time of your appointment.
My appointment with the doctor is not for a few weeks/months and I am worried about my test results. What do I do?
Please call the office (941-957-8288) for an earlier appointment if you are concerned with your lab results. We will make every effort to get you an appointment. Some results can also be discussed with the wellness consultants.
I am home now and confused and not sure about how to perfom my take-home test kits.
Each test kit has detailed instructions in it. Please read and follow the instruction carefully. Some patients find it helpful to lay out everything in the test kit and then underline or highlight important points on the instruction sheet to keep them on task. You can also check our Member Zone for videos on how to perform your tests.
Can I take my medications/supplements when doing my take-home tests?
Some tests have very specific medication/supplement recommendations. Please read the test kit instructions carefully. You may continue to take all essential prescription medications and avoid any supplements highlighted on your personal assessment from your physician.
Exception-If you are performing certain stool tests, you cannot take prescription antifungals or antibiotics or probiotics. The detailed instruction sheet enclosed with the test kit will tell you how long to wait after taking a course of these medications or supplements before performing the test.
The Organix urine test requires I only drink 24 ounces of fluid the day before my urine collection. That is really a small amount of fluid!
Organic acids must be very concentrated in the urine for accurate results. Many patients buy a 24 oz. bottle of water and ration it throughout the day. The lab will reject your sample if it is too dilute.
Can I do my tests on a weekend and mail them on Monday
Yes, you can. Please read the test kit shipping instructions carefully. Some test samples will need to be frozen or refrigerated before shipping.
Are my conventional (general) blood tests fasting?
If your test is fasting you will see “Fasting” on your order form for the test. This means do not eat or drink anything EXCEPT WATER 10 hours before your tests.
I am going to have my thyroid levels checked today. Should I take my thyroid medication first?
No, do not take your thyroid medication before your blood draw. Take it as soon as you have your lab work completed.
bodyMind General Nutrition FAQ's
If I’m working to control my blood sugar, are breads, grains and fruit still OK to eat?
Dietary changes for blood sugar control will vary from person to person depending on their particular condition. In general, you should avoid grains as much as possible especially during the first 12 weeks of your program. Many of the grains today are genetically modified and are destructive to you gastrointestinal tract as well as other areas of your body. We have or will test you to determine which grains you can eat and which ones you should avoid due to sensitivities. If you are eating non-GMO whole grains, make sure to include a protein and/or fat with these carbohydrates in order to minimize the rise in blood sugar.
I’ve made dietary changes, but now I’m constipated. What can I do?
You may have added fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains to your diet, which increases the fiber you’re getting each day. When increasing fiber, it’s also important to drink enough water to keep things moving. Make sure to drink adequate fluids throughout the day. Movement helps too, so follow your doctor or wellness consultant’s advice about adding exercise into your day.
Which natural sweeteners do you recommend?
It’s important to remember that no matter the form, sugar is sugar. All sugars are simple carbohydrates and will raise your blood sugar levels. That means it is important to use sugars in moderation. Questions remain about the prudent use of many natural sweeteners-from agave nectar to stevia. Some natural sweeteners do have a higher nutritional value providing antioxidants and other nutrients. If you want to choose one, try raw local honey. Honey has small amounts of essential minerals, as well as antioxidants and antimicrobial properties. Plus, research shows that honey acts as a prebiotic, which means it may promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in your gut.
Should I worry about the saturated fat in coconut oil?
Coconut oil has been used safely in many cultures for a long time. It has antimicrobial properties, is fairly heat stable, and contains no cholesterol. Coconut oil is also made up of medium-chain triglycerides (a component of fat), making it more easily absorbed than many other fat sources we eat. Debate surrounds recommendations for using coconut oil because much of its fat is saturated…don’t worry about it because it won’t increase your risk of heart disease. Avoid trans- fats, hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats because these are the fats that will cause serious health conditions. Choose healthy fat sources like olive oil, nuts, seeds, fish, and avocado to fill out the rest of your dietary fat intake.
I’ve been doing more exercise and/or saunas and sweating a lot. Should I be consuming anything in addition to water afterward?
You lose both fluids and minerals (electrolytes) in sweat, and it is important to replace both. Use Premier Pink Salt, which is available in our online store. Premier Pink Salt contains the minerals you will need replaced. Also make sure you drink 1-2 glasses of additional water.
Many people enjoy coconut water as a natural electrolyte replacement. Because coconut water is low in sodium, it is best to also consume a snack with some sodium in it after a hard workout or the sauna. If you have further questions or want to hear about additional products that are available, speak with your wellness consultant or doctor.
Which grains are gluten-free?
This is a list of grains that are gluten free in their pure form (or when ground into flour). Always check any product package to see whether any gluten-containing ingredients may have been added to a food.
Amaranth Buckwheat Corn
Oats (if certified gluten free) Quinoa
Rice, all forms
Which additional flours and ingredients can I use for baking if I am following a gluten-free diet?
Bean or pea flours Flax seed Mesquite flour Montina flour
Nut flour and nut meals Potato flour, potato starch Sago
Tapioca (manioc, cassava, yucca) Xanthan gum
What’s the difference between gluten sensitivity and celiac disease?
Celiac is an autoimmune disease in which consuming gluten (a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and some other grains) causes intestinal damage and other health problems. A spectrum of negative reactions to gluten exists, so you can have some level of sensitivity even if you do not have celiac disease. If you suspect you are sensitive to gluten and have not yet been tested, speak with your doctor or wellness consultant about testing to help rule out celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. The only sure way to know for sure if you are or not is to test you.
Now that I am on a gluten-free diet, how can I make sure to get enough fiber?
Some processed gluten-free products are made from refined grains and offer little fiber. But you can get plenty of fiber by using whole, gluten-free grains, plenty of fruits and vegetables, legumes and nuts and seeds to form the basis of your meals and snacks.
I’m eating a gluten- and dairy-free diet, and I’ll be traveling in the next few weeks. What are some strategies I can use to stick to my plan?
Call ahead to your airline or cruise line to see whether you can order special meals while traveling. If you’ll be staying in a hotel, ask for a room with a refrigerator and/or microwave so you can purchase safe foods at a nearby grocer and store them. Some hotels that do not normally have refrigerators in rooms may have a mini-fridge available for your use if you indicate a medical reason. Even with plans like these, it’s important to bring non-perishable foods in case you find yourself without access to gluten- and dairy-free meals. Try a dairy-free protein powder, nuts, seeds, and gluten-free cereals portioned into plastic bags, as well as fruits that are easy to transport (apples, pears, oranges, etc). If you’ll be dining out, search for restaurants that have gluten-free meals by zip code at www.glutenfreerestaurants.org.
I just received my food allergy results. Do I need to stop eating all of the foods listed on the sheet?
Deciding which foods to remove from your diet and how to add foods back in is an individualized process. Speak with your wellness consultant or doctor before making any changes.
I know I’m sensitive to a food, but it didn’t come up on my food allergy results. Should I avoid it?
If you know you react to a particular food, you should avoid it. You may have a different type of reaction or sensitivity to the food that the test cannot detect.
My doctor is treating me for yeast. Are there foods I should avoid?
There are different levels of food restriction when treating yeast with dietary changes. The most important change is to avoid simple sugars, such as fruit juices, added sugars, candy and refined flour products. Some plans are more detailed and involve restricting grains, fruits, certain vegetables, and yeast-containing foods, but the amount of restriction that’s necessary depends on the person. Setting up an individualized food plan to complement your treatment for yeast is a process that should be discussed further with your nutritionist.
I’m ready to start my supplements. Can I start all the ones that are listed on my supplement plan?
We always recommend that you begin with the supplements that we suggest. The order indicated by your wellness consultant at your initial appointment is the best order to follow.
I just started experiencing gastrointestinal distress. Could it be a negative reaction from the supplement I just began?
It is possible. To check, stop taking the last supplement you added into your regimen. See if your symptoms resolve. If they do, begin taking the supplement again and see if your symptoms return. If your symptoms return, contact your doctor or wellness consultant about adjusting the supplement.
Is magnesium stearate a safe ingredient in supplements?
No, magnesium stearate is a harmful ingredient and you should avoid it as much as possible
bodyMind Neutraceutical Suppliment FAQ's
MANY OF THE MOST frequently asked questions our patients have about taking supplements are addressed in the answers below.
Why am I taking so many supplements?
Each person has unique needs and imbalances and nutritional deficiencies that need to be corrected in order for healing to occur. Based on your doctor’s or nutritionist’s evaluation, testing and clinical experience, you have been prescribed nutrients and supplements to accelerate healing and to help you achieve optimal health. Over time, the number and frequency of supplements will be greatly reduced. However, the first step of healing requires a repair process that can last three months to one year. Then you will be placed on a maintenance program for optimal nutritional support.
Can the doctor cut back on the amount of supplements I am taking?
Yes. The initial number of supplements for healing is more than you will be taking over the long-term. At each visit or consultation, your progress and program will be assessed and your treatment adjusted. If you have any difficulty with the supplements or would prefer a particular form of supplement – such as capsules, liquid, powders, or topical, we can assist you in finding what works best for you.
Can the doctor prioritize which supplements are absolutely necessary? It seems like a lot to take, and it costs so much.
Your doctor or wellness consultant has matched your supplement recommendations to your particular unique needs based on your medical history and testing. The program is designed to achieve maximum results quickly. However, adjustments can be made to your health program to accommodate your particular preferences. Please make an appointment to review this with your practitioner.
What supplement should I start with? How shall I proceed from there?
You should always begin with the supplements we suggest first. Do not sway from what we have set up for you. Your individualized supplement regimen is meant to assist your unique healing process. Your doctor and wellness consultant will give you general direction on which ones to take at which times.
How should I be taking my supplements? With or without food?
Most supplements are taken with food unless otherwise specified. Some are important to take between or before meals or at bedtime and that will be noted on your assessment and plan given to you at your visit. When in doubt, follow the instructions on the label.
Something is not agreeing with me. I think it is one of the supplements. What should I do?
If you suspect a supplement is not agreeing with you, the best approach is to stop all supplements and contact us for further assistance. If you have any loose stools or diarrhea, this may be a result of your body detoxifying, or it is might be from from magnesium or vitamin C. If you are taking these supplements, simply stop or reduce the dose of those supplements to see if it resolves the problem. You may also request a supplement consultation our wellness consultant for 15 minutes to review your situation and get help making adjustments.
I see that some of the supplements I am taking have the same ingredients in them. Is this a problem?
Nutrients have many roles in the body and many of the different products we recommend contain the same nutrients. For example, many different products have folate in them. Most nutrients are water soluble and there is no risk of toxicity. The ones we are careful about include the fat soluble vitamins such as vitamins A, D, K and E, and minerals including zinc, selenium and others. Your doctor or wellness consultant has created a balanced plan that is designed to optimize your state of nutrition and health, often requiring much higher dosages of nutrients than those of the “minimal daily requirement”. These are safe and you are being treated under careful medical supervision.
I don’t completely understand my nutritional or supplement program or want to understand more about the benefits or potential side effects. What should I do?
We offer a 15-minute consultation with wellness consultant to help inform, guide and support you on your path to health. Please call our office at (941) 957-8288 to schedule a supplement consultation.
